Hi, I’m Monica and I am a pediatric Occupational Therapist. I received my bachelor’s degree from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in Molecular and Cellular Biology. I received my master’s degree in occupational therapy from University of Illinois at Chicago. Since becoming an OT in 2017 I have worked exclusively with the pediatric population focusing particularly on sensory-processing, self-regulation, and executive functioning. I love being a pediatric OT as it allows me to flex my creativity while also using my health sciences background. I am particularly passionate about providing strengths based, neuro-affirming care and working alongside families to identify unique solutions for their household.
I am trained in CBIT (Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tourette’s), DIR Floortime, interoception, feeding therapies, handwriting without tears, and the SCERTs model among others.
A North Shore native, I currently live with my husband and daughter in Chicago. I love to bike along the lakefront, do crosswords at local coffee shops, and check out new restaurants throughout the city.
We are so grateful to have had Taylor Johnson Therapy recommended to us. Monica came in to our lives at the best time and we are so grateful for all the work she has done with our child. In such a short period of time, Monica has developed a strong relationship with our child, which has been helpful when she needs to be pushed. Monica is extremely intuitive and her response to her intuition has helped our child thrive as we transition to kindergarten.
