Rosanne Schenk, OTR/L

Hi, I’m Rosanne and I have been an Occupational Therapist for almost 30 years. I graduated from University of Illinois with a BS in Elementary Education and a minor in Psychology. I am certified in teaching K-8 but went on to get my Masters in Occupational Therapy from Rush University. I have a broad range of OT experience starting in hospital settings where I was on the Neuro team and the head OT on the orthopedic floor. I continued on to outpatient OT where I worked with hand and upper extremity (UE) injuries. I was able to shadow doctors and observe UE surgeries during this time as well. I took some time off to have my two girls who are now 20 and 23 years old. When I went back to OT I wanted to try something different, and this is when I began working with children in the school setting. I worked in self-contained classrooms, set up sensory rooms and worked on sensory integration, as well as handwriting, fine motor coordination/skills and visual perceptual skills. I participated in 504 meetings as well as IEP meetings setting up goals for children. I currently work part time in an outpatient clinic with hands and UE injuries and am excited to join Taylor Johnson Therapy to work with children, once again. I look forward to be working here and utilizing my years of therapy experience to ensure purposeful activities in which children can be themselves, have fun and meet their goals creatively and functionally. Open communication with families is also important and I look forward to building this rapport. In my free time, I love hanging out with my family and my spunky 15 year old Havanese.
