Messy play is a way to provide tactile input to the nervous system. Some children crave this type of input, especially when it is wet tactile input (i.e. shaving cream, foam, pudding, mud). Our groups had a wonderful type exploring wet tactile input during this ocean messy play activity!

To recreate this activity, you will need:
- A large tub or bucket
- Bath water coloring tablets (sold at target/walmart)
- Plastic ocean animals
- Shaving cream to make waves
- Cups/bowls
- Ice
While exploring, talk about the different sensations and textures you feel. How does ice change the activity? What about adding warm water? This is a great activity for children who are hesitant about exploring wet tactile input as well. Leave the pressure off the table, and have fun!
